Two years ago, Sandfire engaged a new contactor to project-manage shutdown work on our site. ScafWest was this contractor’s scaffold supplier of choice. This was our first association with ScafWest. Our experiences with scaffolding companies in the past has been less than satisfactory. However, during and after that shutdown, the way that the ScafWest team – Tony Cook, John Porter, scaffolders and their back-end management support conducted themselves on site was a pleasant surprise. After a series of similar positives experiences it was decided that Sandfire would directly engage ScafWest to do all our scaffolding shutdowns, maintenance and project works. To date, we have reduced our directly-employed scaffolders on site, and completed successfully our shutdowns exceeding all expectations. Total scaffold costs have reduced significantly.
When additional tasks were put upon ScafWest in addition to an agreed list, it was never a problem. They always succeeded it making it work for us. We have completed two major maintenance upgrade projects with ScafWest and both have been carried out on budget, time and to a high safety standard with excellent communication across associated contractors.
I would recommend ScafWest without reservation as an on-site scaffold company of choice. We anticipate a long-term relationship with ScafWest with both companies prospering together.”

Received a call from Kyle Joseph up at Sandfire today just to relay his appreciation for the work that George and the gang have put in this shutdown. He said ‘there no problem attitude’ has been to of great assistants during the shut and hopes we can maintain this in future shuts.

Hello Tony the boys put in an awesome effort and worked hard over the course of the shutdown, they were very pleasant, courtesy and extremely knowledgeable.
I have a bag and charger in my office that I believe belongs to Scafwest. I will keep until the boys arrive again.

I fully respect your professional answer and understand the polices put in place between Scafwest and ASC. To be truthful I thank you for being honest and for complying to these rules which is a credit to your position in the company and your professionalism.
Both Tex and myself found an alternative solution which resulted in the Weight Comp work proceeding with minimal delays.
On another note, I once again want to thank the ongoing support from yourself and the Scafwest contractors – Stu and Mouse in particular for all their ongoing efforts and professionalism working with ASC and on board HMAS Dechaineux.

Tony and Steve , this is just a quick email to thank your guy’s that came across today, they had a great crack and smashed the job out without hesitation, in the end they ended up doing all the rigging and removal of the pipework without the assistance of the crane, this was a great effort that impressed me, I look forward to utilising your workers for future shut’s, great work.

Hello all, I am writing to you with regards to the recent July shutdown with a number of improvement opportunities identified…
First of all I would like to thank you and your personnel for your contribution to such a successful shutdown. There were a number of positives during the shutdown-
- No accidents or incidents
- Shutdown was completed 15 hours ahead of schedule
- All but a few of the scheduled work orders were completed
- A number of emergent jobs were identified and completed during the course of the shutdown

Very satisfied with the service provided. Supervision is excellent and the quality of the scaffolders is of a high standard. The team are always willing to assist with other duties if required. They are self-managing of which I am proud to work with. High number of resources are regularly utilized during shutdowns. With this crew, they know their priorities and work to achieve a common goal. Their safety ethics are exceptional. I often get good feedback from shutdown team members of their support and professionalism.

Sometimes when surveys are completed it is concerning when you score highly however, I believe this depicts an accurate assessment of Scafwest.
The team will always drop what they are doing to accommodate our needs and the nature of our business is one with goal posts that frequently change. The guys you send to site are punctual, always complete the builds as requested and are only too keen to help out.
I really can’t complain or at this time think of anything you could do better. It is a pleasure working with you guys and we look forward to continuing our relationship over the years to come.

Scafwest always makes shutdowns look so easy with their great work ethic and attention to trades needs. The mosy trucks look incredibly professional too! We feel terrible for having to go elsewhere for the last shutdown but totally understandable due to our own change of scope and dates.
